• Q: Who can use AcademicHomes.com for locating a sabbatical/exchange home?
• A: Anyone can search AcademicHomes.com for homes for sale, rent, exchange, or housesitting.

• Q: Who can use AcademicHomes.com for listing their property for sale, rent, etc.?
• A: Our service is primarily meant for those associated with the academic community, and specifically higher education. Our service can address the unique housing needs of those in academia, whether for two weeks or for two years.

Posting My Home

• Q: What does it cost to use AcademicHomes.com to post an ad to rent, sell, or exchange my home?
• A: As part of our Inaugural Special there is no cost to place ads. This is a limited time offer only. The offer expires Fall 2006. (Valid only for persons in Academia)

• Q: I just entered an ad with AcademicHomes.com, but can't find it online. Why not?
• A: If you just entered the ad, it probably has not yet been approved. Usually, the ad will be approved within an hour, but it may take up to one business day. Once the ad is approved, you will receive an email notification. At that time you should be able to view your ad.

• Q: Will I receive any receipt or confirmation that I posted an ad with AcademicHomes.com?
• A: You will receive an email as your "receipt" confirmation. This e-mail will also remind you that you can access and edit your online ad. If you edit an ad, your ad will not be immediately viewable online, since it must be re-approved.

• Q: After entering my ad, I'm asked for credit card information. Is it a secure connection?
• A: All e-commerce is completely secure and takes place via an encrypted SSL connection to our server.

• Q: How do I edit my ad if I made a mistake or need to change information listed in the description?
• A: You can make changes to your ad at any time. Log in with your e-mail and password, and go through the steps to make any change to your ad.

• Q: I forgot my password. How can I receive my password so I can edit or renew my ad?
• A: You may reset your password by entering your e-mail address on the forgotten password form. This will prompt you for your e-mail address, and the password will be e-mailed to you.

• Q: I placed an ad at AcademicHomes.com. How long until my ad appears online?
• A: Your online ad will usually appear within one hour, but it may take up to one business day (Monday-Friday) after you placed the ad.

• Q: If I make a change to my ad, how long will it take for the change to appear online?
• A: Any edit made to an ad requires a re-approval before the ad can go live; normally, the re-approval takes about one hour, but it may take up to one business day (Monday-Friday) after you placed the ad.

• Q: Can I include a photo with my property?
• A: Yes, you may include up to six photos. Near the end of the ad submission, there is an option to upload photos. Click on Browse, select the photo you would like to upload, and click the 'Preview' button. Accepted image formats include: JPEG, GIF, and PNG.

• Q: How long will my ad run?
• A: All ads posted as part of our Inaugural Special will run for four months. Ads posted after this time will have the option of running for two, four, or six months.

Searching for Homes

• Q: What does it cost to use AcademicHomes.com to search for a sabbatical home?
• A: There is no charge for searching for homes.

• Q: When I search for homes near the University that I will be visiting, no listings are found. What am I doing wrong?
• A: The procedure you are using is correct. There are probably no homes listed at this time near your particular destination. You might try searching some of the surrounding cities and towns.

• Q: I found a home that appears to fit my needs. How do I contact the homeowner?
• A: On the detailed description of the property, there is a button that you can click to contact the owner. This will allow you to email the owner, expressing your interest in their home.
