Available February - December 2009 during our sabbatical:

A lovely, comfortable and cozy Cotswold Colonial style, 4 bedroom home on a quiet, dead end street in a very diverse and friendly neighborhood (community garden, holiday carols, etc.).

This one-quarter acre property is only a 10-minute walk to Newton Centre shops and the Newton Centre T stop (public transit), and just 4 houses away from conservation land. The house is within easy walking distance of Bowen Elementary School; about 2 miles from Oak Hill and Brown Middle Schools and Newton South High School; and a one mile walk to Boston College. Many other area universities, including Harvard, MIT, Wellesley, Boston University, Northeastern, Brandeis, Babson, Simmons, Emerson, Wentworth and many others are within an 8 mile radius (about a twenty minute drive). Most of these are also accessible by public transportation that you can walk to from the house.

The main floor has an eat-in kitchen with natural cherry recessed wood and glass panel cabinets, modern appliances with a brand new smooth surface electric cooktop and oven; a living room with a working fireplace and French doors that open onto a deck and the back yard; a wainscoted dining room; a sunny library, a mud room with washer and dryer and a half-bath. The kitchen also opens onto a screened-in porch and the deck.

The second floor has 3 bedrooms, each with built-in tongue-in-groove cedar closets; full bath and an additional small office/nursery room.

The third floor gabled attic (with skylights) is fully finished with a 1 bedroom suite -- bedroom with cedar closet, living space with sleeper sofa, and full bathroom (stall shower).

We intend to store many of our belongings in the basement, so its description is listed here for informational purposes only - it is not included in the rent, and will not be able to be used as living space, however, the tenants will still be able to use the basement doorway for entry and egress, and also to access the furnace, The basement is finished with a bedroom, bathroom (stall shower) and main room. The basement also has a separate cellar workbench area.

Heat is forced hot water by oil. AC is by window units (6), available for easy installation and use.

Cable/phone/internet service may be continued on request. Renter is responsible for utilities, basic lawn upkeep (we have a lawnmower that may be used) and snow removal (local law requires sidewalks to be cleared).

Available furnished, partially furnished or unfurnished (negotiable).

I am interested in exchanging this home for one in Vancouver, British Columbia, CA!
