Hi there, we are temporarily renting out our 1.5-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment in the heart of Clinton Hill. We will be away from September-January and are searching for someone who would want to sublet the apartment for a minimum of three months during that time period—with a possibility of extension. This is the best space we’ve ever lived in, and we are searching for someone who will take as good care of it as we do.
This spacious and well-maintained corner apartment is perfect for a couple. The living room has an enormous window, great light, and is filled with two couches, a desk, bar cart, television, plants, book cases, speakers, and an Amazon Alexa. We are big cooks, and the kitchen includes anything you could need in terms of appliances, as well as a dishwasher and breakfast bar. The bedroom also has an enormous window, great light, and includes two bedside tables with lamps, two closets, a dresser, and an armoire. There is a large hallway closet and a small extra room with its own monitor, desk and fold-out couch. Generally, we use the extra room as an office, but it can also be used for storage. There is central A/C and Fios internet.
We also have a large private outdoor space, complete with plants, a charcoal grill, picnic table, coolers, a large umbrella, and three outdoor armchairs—all perfect for a social-distance hang with a few friends.
The apartment resides on the first floor of a four-floor building, which has an elevator, gym, and coin-operated laundry. There is also a garage to store your bike. The residents are quiet, friendly, respectful, and abide by all COVID-19 rules, including wearing masks in the building and signing up to use the gym beforehand. We would ask that our renter extend the same courtesy to them. (I will also note many of the people in the building have young children and dogs.)
The area surrounding the apartment is wonderful—deep in the heart of brownstone Brooklyn and filled with tree-lined streets and outdoor coffee shops like Primrose Café and Choice Market. There is a large, brand new Food Emporium one block away and a Whole Foods within delivery range. Outdoor restaurants in the neighborhood include Locanda Vini & Olii, Olea, Mekelburg's, and Speedy Romeo. We are a quick walk away from Fort Greene Park, which has a farmers market on Saturday, and are within walking distance of Prospect Park as well. One thing I will note about this area is that it is remarkably quiet for NYC, which makes it a great place to work. The apartment is three blocks from the Pratt Institute.
The closest subways are the Classon stop on the G train and the Clinton-Washington stop on the C train. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Union Square by public transit (that’s an honest estimate, unlike some of the things you see on these sites). There are also a number of local buses in the area, including the B52 on our corner, which will take you throughout Brooklyn, including to the local Trader Joe’s.
The monthly cost before utilities is $2,800, and the landlord asks that the subletters complete a background check. The ideal renter will be willing to pay a security deposit and occasionally water a few of our plants. Preference will be given to those who want to rent into January. Please tell us a bit about yourself!
